If you are planning a holiday in Sydney, you need a healthy sense of adventure, a fresh attitude, and curiousity, but you need a few more tangible things as well. Keep reading to ensure you have packed everything you need for your Sydney travel.

Even the best planned-out holiday can have accidents. Protect your holiday from being ruined by a health emergency with traveller’s insurance plans that cover medical treatments and evacuations and any activities in which you intend to participate. Visit your doctor at least two months ahead of your departure date in order to have current information regarding vaccinations and prescriptions.

If you are visiting Sydney from outside of Australia, you will need to have a valid passport and visa. Make copies of all your travel documents, including your passport, visas, traveller’s insurance, driver’s license, airline tickets, and other information, and keep the copies in a separate location from the original documents. Take a copy of your travel itinerary as well, and leave this with a family member or friends who will be able to contact you in case of emergency.

Even though credit cards are a very simple and reliable way to pay for your holiday, diversifying your currency options is generally the best bet. Take traveller’s cheques, cash, and credit cards, and try to keep your funds separate. Most hotels offer safes for just this purpose. Keep enough cash on hand for emergencies.

Be aware of the seasons, and pack accordingly. Although Sydney has a pleasant climate all year long, winters can be fairly cool. Be prepared for chilly nights, and dress in layers or pack jackets and gloves in case things get cold. Humidity and temperatures can get high in the summer, so lightweight clothing made of natural, breathable fibres may be preferable. If you are considering doing the Sydney Bridge Climb or visiting the Blue Mountain region, bring sturdy shoes. Sunblock, sunglasses, and a protective hat are necessary if you plan to spend time on the beach.
